Fresh Almond Milk with Vanilla Bean and Maple

And then some...

Almond milk is a nice alternative to cow’s milk. It is nutritious, tastes great, gentle on the digestive system, and is extremely easy to prepare.

You can purchase almond milk at the grocery store, but it is not as delicious as making it yourself. I have noticed that even the healthier choices in almond milk blends still have some very interesting ingredients. And If you are like me you may find then just as interesting to enunciate.

The only thing you will need that is not readily available at most grocery stores will be a Nut Milk Bag. However, if you want to purchase everything while in the comfort of your home or office, visit The Nut Milk Supply Store, and have your items shipped to you!

Fresh Almond Milk with Vanilla Bean and Maple

Okay, so I have been called a nut more than once in my lifetime. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with nuts. In love nuts, and in this case Almonds to be exact. They really do make the most delicious and nutritious milk replacement I have ever had.

Ingredients

1  cup raw almonds
3  cups water
1-3  tablespoons pure maple syrup, agave, honey, or cane sugar
½  vanilla bean (or 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract)

Preparation

A Must Have...A  Nut Milk Bag

1. Soak the nuts in water for 8-12 hours and drain water

 2.  Place all ingredients into a blender, and mix on the highest speed for 1-2 minutes.

3. Pour the almond mixture through a reusable nut milk bag. Most of the milk will drain through. You can wait an hour for the final few drops to drain or you can squeeze the last little bit out of the bag and into a bowl or container.

Fresh almond milk stores very well in the refrigerator. However, it is doubtful that you will have any left to store.

  2. Sounds delish! I have been wanting to try this for a while, but I am afraid I will not be able to keep up with my toddler, who drinks about two gallons a week!
